Business Action on Homelessness aims to equip homeless people, through business support, with the necessary skills to gain sustainable employment. Pertemps Employment Alliance provide a range of employment and recruitment opportunities to job seekers and employers through their delivery of key 'Welfare to Work' initiatives. This unique partnership between BAOH and PEA brings together both commitment and support from local businesses and knowledge and expertise from one of the country's leading 'Welfare to Work' providers.

Ready for Jobs is an innovative online job bank of employment opportunities for people affected by homelessness. Ready for Jobs-Birmingham is a partnership between Business Action on Homelessness and Pertemps Employment Alliance.

How to Apply for a Job on this Site

  1. Go to the 'vacancies button' on the navigation bar or 'jobseekers panel' on home page. Click on the 'more detail button' of the job that you wish to apply for read through the detailed job description & person specification
  2. If you are sure that you satisfy the eligibility criteria then complete the on-line initial application
  3. You will be required to attend an initial meeting with an Employment Coach from Pertemps Employment Alliance


Employer Guidlines (How to place a Vacancy)

  1. Go to the 'Employers Button' on the home page
  2. If you have used this service before then click on 'Employers Button' and then login. Complete the template and submit your vacancy.
  3. If you are a new user click on the 'Employers panel' on home page or 'Employers Button' on the navigation menu. Click the link to register for a new employer account, complete the application form and then click the submit button. You will then be contacted by an advisor with further instructions.

Job Seeker Responsibilities

  • To be truthful & honest on your initial application
  • To attend an initial meeting with your Employment Coach
  • To follow the application procedures as set down by the employer
  • To be punctual and keep appointments

Employer Responsibilities

  • To provide as much detail about your vacancy as possible to make this opportunity exclusive to people from homeless backgrounds for at least two weeks
  • To work with employers in order to ensure that they understand that someone from a homeless background may face in partnership with PEA, to ensure that applicants are fully prepared for the world of work
  • To respond to queries within 48 hours of receipt
