Business Action on Homelessness aims to equip homeless people, through business support, with the necessary skills to gain sustainable employment. Pertemps Employment Alliance provide a range of employment and recruitment opportunities to job seekers and employers through their delivery of key 'Welfare to Work' initiatives. This unique partnership between BAOH and PEA brings together both commitment and support from local businesses and knowledge and expertise from one of the country's leading 'Welfare to Work' providers.

Business in the Community is a unique movement in the UK of 800 member companies with a further 2000 plus engaged through our programs and campaigns. We operate through a local network of more than 100 business led partnerships and 60 global partners.

Business Action on Homelessness is a campaign of Business in the Community and was launched in 1998 to enable businesses to have a direct impact upon homelessness. Homelessness is considered to be one of the top issues that consumers feel corporates should address. Working with business to equip homeless people and those at risk of being homeless with the skills to gain and sustain employment.

The two main initiatives that are run by Business Action on Homelessness are Ready for Work and Ready for Jobs

READY FOR WORK INFORMATION





Ready for Work is run by Business in the Community, with the support of National and Local businesses, specifically for people from homeless backgrounds. Typically the programme runs as follows:

Week one
1/2 day registration session
Closing date for applications, clients must meet selection criteria and be referred by a recognised homelessness provider.

Week two
2 day job focussed motivational training programme

Weeks Three and Four
2 week placement with a participating business (extension may be possible)

Week Five
1/2 day Action Planning session

From Action day
6 month one to one support with a volunteer Job Coach from a participating business
